WE SUPPORT

Here at Gordon Uniting Church, we believe God calls us to serve others. We've been blessed with the resources and the passion to make a difference in our local and wider community. Our vision is for our Church to be visible and accessible, making a difference in any way possible, putting our faith and enthusiasm to work.

The Flying Padre

How can the Uniting Church support people in the far north west of NSW, who may be hundreds of kilometres away from the nearest church? Well the Flying Padre, now a part of Frontier Services, has taken on that challenge.

The new Flying Padre, Rev Jorge Rebolledo, started in March this year and is based out of Broken Hill. Equipped with a single engine plane, he will visit stations and towns such as Ivanhoe, Wilcannia, Tilpa, Tibooburra and Menindee to provide pastoral care to isolated people.

We welcome Jorge to this role and hope to support this ministry through pray, financial support and hopefully a visit.

Mexico Mission Trips

A cause close to our hearts are the Mexico Mission trips where members of Gordon Uniting and other churches spend time building houses for disadvantages families in Tijuana, Mexico in partnership with Amor Ministries. This trip has now become the Moderator's Mexico Mission.

During a trip, teams of 15 build a house over a 5 day period and also have the chance to explore Tijuana and Rosarito in Mexico and Los Angeles in the USA and worship in different church communities. Trips have been run over December/January and have departed in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2010.

One of our younger church members, Jon Reid, is currently in Mexico working with Amor Ministries and our support and prays are with him.

Other Organisations

During the year, we support a number of different groups during their campaigns. These include UnitingWorld's "Lent Event" and TEAR Australia's "Useful Gifts".

Through events such as these, we hope to provide financial support for overseas aid and development but also our support through prayer and education.
